Radiomir 1940 3 Days GMT Oro Rosso (PAM00570) was released in April of this year and is the latest special edition from Panerai. It is the first Radiomir 1940 to feature the new caliber P.300/10 movement with 72-hour power reserve. IN ABOUT 1940, THE PANERAI WORKSHOPS IN FLORENCE PERFECTED A NEW CASE, designed to meet the increasing demands of the commandos of the Italian Navy.
The case was a development of the one presented in 1936 which is known today as the Radiomir -- a term which originally referred to the luminous material patented by Panerai to make the dial readable in the dark -- but it presented some innovations designed to make its construction even more solid and hardwearing.

In 2012, Officine Panerai launched the “1940,” a case style best described as the Swiss-Italian watchmaker’s evolutionary missing link.Developed between the first Panerai combat dive watches of the 1930s and the famed 6152 (“Luminor”) case of the 1950s, the “1940″ template hauled Panerai’s lug and case design out of the pocket watch era and into the age of NATO.
Radiomir 1940 Oro Rosso (Italian for “red gold”), whose shorter, Paneristi-friendly reference number is PAM 00398. The gold used for the case is 5NPt, an alloy with an unusually high percentage of copper (24.1 percent) for a richer, redder hue. The PANERAI Radiomir 1940 Oro Rosso 42 mm smoulders in polished 18K red gold. The watch, named PAM 513, is also suitable for narrow wrists due to the case diameter of 42 mm.
Panerai has recently added a new silhouette to its family of Radiomir watches with the Radiomir 1940 3 Days GMT Oro Rosso. Like a family name of any other sort, the elongated title definitely implies a sort of regality about the piece.

Geneva, Panerai unveiled a few new additions to their Historic Collection, the Radiomir 1940 Steel and Radiomir 1940 Oro Rosso. Both of these new models utilize the newer style Radiomir case style (launched last year) featuring thicker lugs and a cylindrical crown, designed to emulate cases designed in the 1940s. Unlike the monster 47 mm cases that Paneristi tend to favor, these two editions are much more wearable for most at 42 mm.
